Blakeney Marshes (Chamomile)

£145.00

This is an original collagraph print featuring a grounded boat on the marshes at Blakeney in Norfolk. It is from an edition of 14 printed on 300gsm Somerset Soft White printmaking paper which is a lovely creamy colour. The size of the print area is 38x28cm approximately with the edition number, title and artist signature adding another 2cm at the bottom. There is a border area around the piece to give space. The piece is supplied unmounted and unframed to keep the package size down for shipping.

A collagraph takes its name from the word ‘collage’ as it is essentially a collage made on a rigid surface such as thick card which is then varnished, inked up and rolled through a print press against dampened paper. The edges and surfaces of the collage form the lines and textures of the print, which is transferred onto the paper on its way through the press. Extra colour can be added to the printmaking process by way of an additional technique called ‘Chine-Collé’ which involves the lamination of extra papers to the print as it goes through the press. I use my own pattern designs in the Chine-Collé process and each edition is named after the pattern design or designs used, this being 'Chamomile’ after the pattern used on the hull of the main boat.

Please note that your collagraph will be from this edition but will feature very subtle variations from the one pictured as each collagraph print is hand inked and pulled thus making it impossible to produce two truly identical pieces. Because the paper is off-white it is very hard to get an exact colour representation because the scanner gets confused (!) but I have edited the image to be as close as possible. Please be assured that each piece is of the same high quality and that I never sell pieces that I am not entirely happy with. All collagraph prints are archival meaning that they should not deteriorate in appearance over time. However, as with all original artwork, I strongly recommend that they are not hung in direct sunlight.

The collagraph print will be shipped flat.

Please note that, at present, this collagraph is printed to order hence the 1-3 week dispatch time.
